Week 3

Spread Joy

Bible Focus

This week is about Joy, and praising God.  God wants us to be happy, and he does so much for us that we should thank him for.  The book of Psalms (the “p” is silent) has a lot of “songs” or poems that praise God and rejoice in his love and care.

Let’s listen to Psalm 100.

Songs

Don't forget, you can go back and sing favorites from other weeks, too!
Just click on the Week 1 or Week 2 tabs in the top menu.

Science

When we make a joyful noise, we are making sounds.  Just how are sounds made, anyway?  The first video will answer that question, and show you a simple sound experiment.  (Try making the rubber band tighter or looser, use a thicker or thinner rubber band and see if it changes the sound.)

The second video is a cool way to see sound waves -  they make sand pictures with sound!

Crafts

Psalm 150 is another one that encourages us to praise God.  It tells us why and how we can praise God.  Our craft is based on this psalm.  Find a list of materials here.

Mission

Each week we will have a different Mission.  You can choose to do it each week, some weeks, or not at all.

This week's mission is similar to last week's.  We are going to make a school kit to donate to the United Methodist Committee on Ministry (UMCOR.)  The school kits are given to children who have lost their homes to natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes and tornadoes.  These kits provide basic school supplies for children who have none.  The kits are easy to put together and can be dropped off in the box outside the Fellowship Center.  After they have been collected the church will ship them to a distribution center where they will be given to those who need them.  Click here for instructions on how to pack your school kit.
